At the microphone of ETOnline, Gaten Matarazzo confided in this subject. “I think the tone is clearly more mature. And it’s something that is done in a conscious way because they (the Duffer brothers, editor’s note) want the series to grow up with these children, ” he said.

Also during this interview, the interpreter of Dustin explained that inevitably, Eleven & co will grow up as the actors are now older. This major change is due in large part to the numerous production delays.

Gaten Matarazzo however clarified that the Duffer brothers knew how to use this problem to their advantage. As a reminder, this is the first time since the start of the show that they have been able to develop scripts to match their talent. Executive producer Shawn Levy added that they were able to “rewrite them over time like there’s never time to”.

As Gaten Matazarro has assured, the Duffer brothers make it a point of honor to raise the level every season. “(…) They know their show and what people love about it. And knowing what they want, they do everything to achieve it, ” he said.

There is no doubt that this new salvo of episodes will be rich in twists and turns. However, it will be necessary to be patient, because according to the latest news, Stranger Things season 4 will not be available on Netflix until the end of 2021.
