Bridgerton Season 2: Regé-Jean Page will not the part of the Cast

Bridgerton Season 2:  The actor has declined to guest star in the new episodes. This weekend the news broke: Simon Basset, the charismatic Duke of Hastings played by Regé-Jean Page in The Bridgertons in Season 2, will not be back in the second season of the Netflix phenomenon. While the new episodes will focus on a new Bridgerton brother, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), fans assumed that the protagonist of the first installment would be seen in the continuation of the series.

As Screen Rant collects, it has been the actor himself who has refused to appear in the second season. Apparently, they offered to return as a guest star in a few episodes, charging $ 50,000 per episode. In an interview for People (via Screen Rant), Page already referred to conversations he had had with the producers and the reasons for his possible absence: “I thought it was interesting to do this because it seemed like a miniseries. I have been able to go in, contribute a little. and then the Bridgerton family continues. ”

The actor also stated in previous interviews that the appeal of this project was for him to tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end in one season. Thus, the project also allowed him to continue acting in other works, such as The Gray Man, which is now filming with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

What else to expect from Bridgerton Season 2?

It should be noted that in the literary saga of Julia Quinn on which the Netflix series is based, each novel focuses on a Bridgerton brother so that the character of Simon appears very little in the rest of the plots. Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and her relationship with the Duke are only a small part of the universe created by Quinn, the one belonging to the book The Duke and I.

The second season will focus on Anthony Bridgerton, as does the second book in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me. The novel in question explores the Bridgertons’ firstborn’s love triangle with the young woman he wants to be engaged to, Edwina Sheffield, and her older sister, Kate Sheffield.

The Bridgertons is available on Netflix.
